14×25″ acrylic, pen on watercolor paper

Well, this is not a daily jane. It’s been hanging around for months in various stages, and resting for a few weeks. But I’m calling it done. What to name it is now the question. At first I thought the title would be “1984 / 2016,” but then I added some other writing and thought maybe it would be “2+2=5.” I actually haven’t decided for sure on the title.

Hmm, I guess I could call it the Bowling Green Massacre….

6×6″ acrylic on paper

This began as something much different. It was about divisions between groups and the quandary of how to move forward. Then last week happened and I first scribbled black marker over and between the blobs of color. But I didn’t like how it turned out (the week or the painting). So I scraped more paint over the painting, and this is the result. Not sure I like it all that much better, but….

This is a close-up of a beautiful red cabbage we bought last week from Grinnell Heritage Farm at the downtown farmer’s market. After Matt cut into it he called me over to see the beauty. I grabbed my phone and took a photo.

Hope this is posted in time for the weekly newsletter!
