8×8″ acrylic
This is a combination of palette knife lines and block printing. It still looks a little spare to me, like it needs something more. But I’m trying to keep it simple this time.

Not much to say about it. This has been done for awhile (or as done as it will get), but I’m just finally posting the photo. Busy times! Will I do better in 2018? My intention says yes. My reality says maybe!
11×8″ acrylic on matboard
This feels like kind of a mess to me, but it is time to rest with it. More scraping, dripping, printing.
4×6″ acrylic
Drips, scrapes, prints, uncertainty. I’m letting this go.
~8×8″ acrylic
A scrape, a smear, a print. An image emerges. That’s the story of today’s daily-not-daily.

I know, it’s not the solstice and I should wait to post this until then. But this is what I worked on this week (in addition to a few other things, but this is done, I think), so it’s this week’s not-so-daily jane. This started out much rougher, sketchier. But then my organizer-brain took over and decided it needed to be tidier. *sigh* I still don’t know when to stop, sometimes. But here it is (for now).
3.5×2.5″ acrylic
Scrapes, dabs, and brush marks combined to create this little artist trading card.
acrylic, leaf collage
This is a scrape that needed a death-bug-eaten leaf as decoration. I see a blue-haired lady in a ball gown. Twirling around. With a leaf. Yep.
3.5×2.5″ acrylic, marker on artist’s trading card
A little leftover scrape, a little marker doodling. I see a bull or a bison (or a bison bull?) standing, but maybe that’s just my reaction to the political talk of the day.

The title of this painting is from one of the hashtags for an arts-based celebration (Minuet MANY Unity Celebration) scheduled for tomorrow in opposition to the Iowa Minutemen (militia) meeting here this weekend. Does the painting have anything to do with it? Not really, but it’s on my mind, so it’s what came to me as I was considering a title. Hoping for the rain to stop so the youth orchestra can play on the capitol grounds! #MinuetsNotMilitias #WaltzesNotWalls
