And the raspberries become seedless raspberry sauce. This is delightful with yogurt and fruit, with cereal (so Matt tells me), on cookies and cake, on ice cream, and almost anything else you can think of. I mean, really—what could the addition of this sauce not enhance?

The lovely fruit with the seeds that scare some folks away. But oh, that flavor! Love them (although in recent years it’s only been in de-seeded raspberry puree). We have had a healthy crop this year.

This month I am going to do a series of digital photos of colors found in nature (and cooking!). My intention is to do it the whole month of July, but I may change my mind if I feel like it. How’s that for commitment!?!

Today’s color is this delightful orange bright daylily.

Some painted acrylic, some collaged dried acrylic. Quick little project to finish up the month of June.

Big changes in store for the month of July! Stay tuned!

06-29-15 “nomad”

5×3″ acrylic

This piece is all acrylic, but some of the shapes are dried acrylic paint blobs from the palette that I have collaged over the brushed-on acrylic background. When I had the dried paint pieces just sitting on white paper, it reminded me of Don Quixote. After I painted the background, it lost some of that for me, but the feeling is still there. No horse, though.

4×5″ thread, acrylic paint on paper

One more use (so far) of the sewing machine on paper. I used the zig-zag stitch for this piece, but again, preferred the look of the back of the paper. I brushed on the acrylic colors, sometimes mixing and blending on the paper itself. I think it needs a little something more, but this is it for now.

4×5″ thread, acrylic paint on paper

I decided to use the old sewing machine again while it is still sitting on my desk. I (crudely) stitched a spiral on the paper. Once it was done, I looked at both sides of the paper and preferred the look of the backside, so that is what you see. Then I brushed on three transparent acrylic colors, each diluted with a little glazing liquid. This was a fun little project, and relatively quick which is helpful these days!

06-26-15 “love wins” —SOLD—

4×5″ thread, acrylic on paper

I had a piece for today already set, but this morning’s Supreme Court news made me quickly create this little piece. So happy, even to share this common (and rather crudely painted) symbol. Love and equality win!

9×6.25″ acrylic on matboard

I collaged a piece of painted heavy paper onto this scraped painting just to break it up a little and add some interest.
